Umlazi Community Tourism (CTO) organisation is an NPO registered under the Tourism Act…in order to cater for the tourism development in the township:
• Promoting Umlazi as the most preferred township destination.
• Safeguarding the integrity of the of the tourism sector in the township.
• Educating and increasing awareness about tourism
• Creating an enabling environment for the community of Umlazi, through empowerment and development, to actively contribute and participate within the second largest township in the Republic of South Africa and the broader tourism space.
Umlazi CTO is registered and accredited by both EThekwini Municipality and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) to market, coordinate and administer tourism initiatives in the greater EThekwini region, each with concentrating in its specific area of jurisdiction.
Umlazi CTO has a MOU with Durban Tourism, Tourism KwaZulu Natal and other provincial and national structures that specifically promote the tourism business and environment.
